anton söderman 1762 - 1801
Anton Söderman (in this story we might call him The First) is our great-great-great grandfather (GGGF). He was born 16th October 1762, in Försmark, Uppland, Sweden. He was one of twins, and in all the archived documents his brother Anders' name always comes before Anton's, so I wonder if that's their birth order? Their mother was Lena Greta Blank, their father Thussin Söderman and there is an older brother Johan born in 1756.
In 1768 Lena Greta died, and Thussin married Caisa Schiwert, found as a piga (servant) in their household from 1767. In 1772 the father died. In their mother's Probate the three boys' legal guardian is her brother, Anders Blank, but he has died in the meantime.
The children were sent away to interim guardians until male relatives from their birth family can be found for a more permanent home for them. Johan goes to stay with the local priest, called Johan Lystadius, possibly the brother of one of the witnesses for his birth, Caisa Stina Lystadius.
Anton and Anders were split up - Anders to Öregrund, to be with Hans Ålenning; Anton to Rångsen to be with Tussin Henrichsson, a coppersmith, who was also a distant relative. In 1789 the household records show that Johan and Anton living together in the house of Peter Oberg (b 1740), in no 14 Forste Roten, Öregrund.
Anton's death notice (below) from 1801 says he was 40 years old when he died. The entry is from the Öregrund church records: our translation suggests that he died at sea, on 20 December, "overboard, when the ship foundered? near to Ostende during the trip to England".

We know he was married to 'Madame Eva Maria Norman', a widow, on 16th February 1794. Eva Maria Norman had been previously married to Coopvaerdie Capitain Eric Cederholm/Cäderholm, and with him had three sons: Anders Petter (26 November 1787), Eric Abraham (2 October 1789) and Adoplh Ulric (13 September 1791). Eric Cederholm died in 1791, in Dantzig (now Gdansk) of a "heated fever" at the age of 40 - the record in the Dödbok says 1 November. He was buried there too.
It is possible that Anton took on the three boys as his own, if only because a public family tree (OveK) had them named as Söderman; possibly they were known as that, although many years later Eva Maria, again a widow, and her son Anders Petter Cederholm, sold the Söderman house in Öregrund. [Eva Maria, born in Stockholm on 24 Dec 1764, having endured being a pauper at some point, died on 26th October 1849, of “old age and hernia”.]
Later in 1794 his own son, Anton (the one I've labelled as "i Finland") was born to Eva Maria, and then another son, Sven and a daughter Maria Mathilda. Their stories are told with their brother's, Anton The Finnish Captain, on the page previous to this.
