I am shocked to find I have not made an entry since 2016. That's over four years. What have I been doing?
- I have carried on researching Antony's story, especially trying to track down the ships, especially looking for information about the way he first docked in the UK somewhere - was it Shields? Glasgow? And realised that I might have sent emails to likely-sounding people, but not got any answer.
- I do have a list of things I still need to find, and occasionally will dawdle through the national archives, in case new maritime records or details turn up.
- I have continued researching and writing up the Soderman Women's stories, and especially the UK based ones, like Julia Hubbard, my great grandmother. But not published it yet. One notable realisation is that every other year when we were children, we went to the West Country on holiday, from Cardiff, and that the journey would have passed by most of the villages that housed my forebears. But that my Dad never mentioned them, and we never visited anybody apart from whoever was in the Budgerigar House in Paignton.
- I get notification of Geni Smart Matches, a lot of Swedes and Finns, mainly distant lines emanating from Andreas' children. I rarely follow them up.
- I've looked at the FTDNA matches on a regular basis, but never seen anyone I know on my Family Tree!
- Cousin Derek Sederman, with whom we connected through a fluke article in a local paper, has died (November 2018).
- In this last year of enforced home confinement, I did others things - I started researching the LEWIS family, ie. my mother's welsh ancestors
- I made it to the 32 ancestors on my tree that constitute 5 generations back
